Overnight closure of Skyway Bridge, Cty Rd 35 on Sept. 8


A full night closure of the Skyway Bridge on Hwy 49 is planned for Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday, Sept. 9.

The closure is intended for repairs on the south abutment deck panels.

There will also be a night closure of County Rd 35 under  during the same timeframe. The closure is intended for the removal of the existing steel girders, which will
consist of placing cranes either on or above the road to perform the required lifts.

During this time period the highway will be closed, and no traffic will be permitted to pass over the bridge.

AUG: 23: An emergency full night mainline closure of Highway 49 at the Bay of Quinte Skyway Bridge will take place starting at 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23 until 6 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24.

This closure is intended for the repairs of the south abutment deck panels.

During this time period, the highway will be closed, and no traffic will be permitted to pass over the bridge.

Full night closure of road under bridge cancelled

UPDATE AUG. 22: Contractor has called off the Full Night Closure of Hwy 35 for next week. There will be NO CLOSURE NEXT WEEK.

REVISED AUG. 22: Closure of County Road 35 planned for Aug. 31 – Sept. 1 with poor weather date of Sept. 1-2.

A full night closure of County Road 35 under the Skyway Bridge is planned for Wednesday, Aug. 24 from 9 p.m. to Thursday, Aug. 25 at 6 a.m.

In case of poor weather conditions or unexpected delays, the closures will be re-scheduled to take place during the same timeframe Aug. 25-26.

The closure is intended for the installation of steel girders for segment E work which will consist of placing cranes either on or above the road to perform the lifts required.

During these time periods, this portion of County Road 35 will be closed, and no traffic will be permitted to pass through the area under the bridge.
