Realtors at RE/MAX Quinte Ltd. in Prince Edward County are again teeing up support to improve care patients receive at Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital.

On Tuesday, June 14 RE/MAX and the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation will join forces to host the second annual ‘Teeing Up Fore Health Care Golf Classic’ at the Picton Golf and Country Club in support of priority medical equipment purchases for the County hospital.

Wilkinson & Company LLP, Chartered Accountants and Tax Specialists donated $5,000 gift to the Foundation toward supporting the tournament.

“This tournament offers the opportunity to come together as a community in support of the current LIFE SAVER Campaign Phase II to raise money for replacement medical equipment needs at PECMH. The money raised will have a direct impact on County residents and visitors and the health care they receive,” said Jeff Snider, CPA CA and partner with Wilkinson & Company. “As a firm that is dedicated to community service, Wilkinson has a special interest in ensuring that when not-for-profit organizations, like the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation succeed, we help improve the quality of care patients receive at the hospital,” he said.

All net proceeds will be directed to the PECMH Foundation to assist with the purchase of a replacement colonoscope at a cost of almost $30,000 for the Endoscopy Department at PECMH. Last year’s inaugural tournament net more than $23,000 and purchased an electrocardiogram (ECG) machine for the Emergency Department at PECMH.

“The Foundation raises money in our community for the purchase of priority medical equipment needed for patient care at PECMH. Each year, our County hospital staff treats more than 18,000 patients in our emergency department with approximately 1,000 admitted for further care, many for medical conditions such as heart attacks,” said Leo Finnegan, foundation chair. “Our goal is to build partnerships in the County with businesses and others who will work with us to meet the needs of our fundraising endeavours. We are proud of RE/MAX’s efforts to Tee Up Fore Health Care in support of our hospital.”

Wellings of Picton and Parkside Landscaping and Contracting have chipped in their commitment to the County Hospital through sponsoring the tournament at the $2,500 level.

“Nautical Lands Group, builder and operator of Wellings Of Picton, is proud to be a partner of this golf tournament. Bringing attention to our local hospital and supporting their funding goals is paramount to delivering the standard of care everyone deserves. We look forward to contributing to the County community for many years to come,” said Natalie Tommy, vice president, marketing, Nautical Lands Group.

In addition, hole sponsorships are being sold for $150 each. If you are looking for a fun, feel good way to increase visibility for your business in support of enhanced health care delivery at PECMH, call Herb Pliwischkies at 613-921-7441 or Kevin Gale at 613-242-7295.

“We are deeply grateful for the partnerships the Foundation is forging and the dozens of hole sponsors already on board,” said Penny Rolinski executive director of the Foundation “We are proud to recognize these businesses for their commitment to the health and wellness of the County community.”

The tournament on June 14 is to begin at 11 a.m. with a barbecue lunch donated by Sobey’s served at 11:30 a.m. Golfers will then hit the links for the 1p.m. shotgun start for 18 holes on the course. A steak dinner, catered by the Golf Club Grill, will commence after the last cart returns to the clubhouse with presentations to follow. Entry into the tournament, which includes the meals, golf, power cart and a takeaway gift, will cost $150 per golfer.

Registration is now open! Call Briar at the Foundation office (613-476-1008 ext. 4425) to participate. Cheques can be made payable to the PECMH Foundation and credit cards may be processed over the phone by calling the Foundation office. The classic is open to 100 golfers on a first come, first served basis. We are also looking for volunteers in various capacities to help throughout the day.
