Passport services coming in Belleville

passportTravellers will be able to get passport services in Belleville beginning Monday, Feb. 23.

Daryl Kramp, Member of Parliament for Prince Edward-Hastings, made the announcement Monday on behalf of Jason Kenney, Minister of Employment and Social Development.

The Service Canada Centre is at 1 North Front St. Passport receiving agents will assist citizens with the standard passport application by reviewing it on site for completeness, verifying supporting documents, accepting payment and forwarding it on for processing.

Those needing their passport within 10 days will still have to drive to the Whitby office. Those using the services of a “receiving agent” such as Belleville’s should receive their document within 20 days.

“By offering passport services in the Services Canada Centre in Belleville, I am pleased to make it easier for people to obtain assistance with their passport application,” said Kramp.

Service Canada is expanding passport receiving services to additional Service Canada Centres. New locations and opening dates to be announced in the coming weeks include:
o  Sudbury and Kingston, Ontario – Feb. 2
o  Stratford, Ontario – Feb. 9
o  Yarmouth, Nova Scotia – Feb. 9
o  Brantford, Ontario – Feb. 16
o  Rimouski, Quebec – Feb. 16
o  Belleville and Chatham, Ontario – Feb. 23
