PE Learning Centre move creates new “Learning Hub”

A small ‘learning hub’ has formed at the Picton Sobey’s Plaza as the Prince Edward Learning Centre (PELC) has moved from the Armoury Mall into space with the Loyola School of Adult and Continuing Education.

County adults looking to complete high school, upgrade their essential skills for a better job, or prepare for college or apprenticeship programs will have easy access to one-stop shopping for education.

“We are very excited about this new partnership,” said Kathy Kennedy, PELC executive director. “We are committed to lifelong learning, and encourage PEC residents to come and visit the county’s new “adult learning hub” for information on everything from high school completion to essential skill upgrading to applying for college or university as an adult.

Loyola Principal Rob Gilmour said the opportunity allows for seamless support to learners as they progress through their educational pathway.

The new learning hub is now open daily all summer offering registration appointments for fall Loyola online and hybrid courses, supporting registrations for Quinte Adult Education correspondence courses, offering one-on-one tutoring, support for course work, goal setting, and essential skills upgrading.

Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Thursday, and Friday 8:30 a.m. to noon. Call or drop in for a schedule of Loyola and PELC programs, courses and classroom times.

PELC will continue its work as a year-round Community Volunteer Income Tax Clinic, and can also assist with registrations for the Ontario Electrical Support Program from its new location.
