PEC festivals gain $109,713 in funding

County festivals will receive more than $100,000 out of $19 million in funding offered this year by the province’s Celebrate Ontario program.
Ontario is supporting a record number of festivals and events across the province including three ongoing and one new festival in Prince Edward County to the tune of $109,713.
Through the Celebrate Ontario 2015 program, the funding assists 270 festivals and events to celebrate Ontario’s diversity, heritage and culture. The funds are to help organizers enhance programming and services, attract new audiences and create jobs in the tourism sector.
The Great Canadian Cheese Festival receives $45,000; The Festival Players $35,216; The PEC Music Festival $14,400 and the new Comedy Country Festival $15,097.
Since 2007, Celebrate Ontario has spent $137 million to support more than 1,700 events across Ontario.
