The Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary has updated and re-furnished its courtesy suite at the hospital.
The Mary Catherine Scott suite is a small, furnished and fully-equipped apartment on the second floor of the hospital, is made available as a courtesy to families of seriously ill patients at the hospital so they can have rest and privacy while staying on site. It was created by the auxiliary in honour of Scott, a former president.
A major purchase of a large, comfortable sofa was made possible by donations to the PECMH Remembrance Fund in memory of the late Robert (Bob) Hymus of Picton.
“Many years ago, Bob had a serious operation, and if it had not been for a respite facility in London, Ontario, I do not know what our family and I would have done,” said Dorothy, Bob’s widow. “Consequently, the Mary Catherine Scott suite was of great importance to Bob and myself. In times of worry and sorrow, to be able to have a place to go and relieve at least one major stress helps to make our wonderful hospital what it is. The Auxiliary is crucial to our community, and to be able to contribute makes my heart smile and makes Bob’s wishes come true. Another thank you goes out to all the wonderful people who donated in Bob’s name to help make this happen.”
