PECI senior boys felt victory in one of three historic games at OFSAA

PECI Senior Boys Basketball team includes Brodie Byford, Dylan Morrow, Jack MacCool, Devon Wilton, Alex Arsenault,  Logan Stark, Joe Burley, Ian Forsyth, Thomas Davies, Owen Wang, Ben Clarke, Justin Smith, Gabe Goad, Kaleb Stacey and coaches Rob Garden, Taylor Reddick and Caleb Hugh.

PECI’s Senior Boys felt the thrill of victory during their historic showing at OFSAA – but also felt the hammer come down winning one of three games at the AAA event in Hamilton.

The PECI Senior Boys Basketball team made school history by winning the AAA COSSA Championship held in Peterborough. to set sights on the AAA Ontario Federation School Athletic Association games in Hamilton March 3-6.

There first game verses Cathedral CSS from Hamilton showed them what the next level of play looked like in a loss 85-37 – though they were down just 15 points at the half.

The team re-grouped for its second game against St Mary, from Sault St Marie, and experienced victory 54-40.

PECI then had to face the #1 seed – Pine Ridge and had them on the ropes for three quarters of that game, but the final ended in a loss with a score of 82-49.

Coach Rob Garden, volunteer coaches Taylor Reddick and Caleb Hugh, are celebrating the end a great season with an overall 20-6 record.

They thanked the many individuals, school staff and community members for continued support and contributions.

They also praised alumni, parents and family members for being the sixth player all season, noting “Most times, home or away, we had the largest cheering section and our players and coaches appreciated your support.”
