PECMH Auxiliary honours first baby born (to a staff member)

Since the maternity ward closed at Picton last year, babies are no longer born at the County’s hospital. However, Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary members decided to honour Knox Stevens, as the first baby born in 2014 to a Picton hospital staff member. He posed for a photograph with his mother, mammography technician Megan Stevens; PECMH Auxiliary president Peggy Payne (right) and Auxiliary volunteers in the breast screening service, Jacqui Ireland (left) and Norma Currah. Although there have been some close calls in the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital emergency department, County babies are delivered at Belleville hospital, or at home, under the care of mid-wives.
