Picton Main reconstruction timeline to Nov. begins July 4

The reconstruction of Picton Main Street between Bridge and Johnson streets is set to begin Monday, July 4.

The scope of the project includes replacement of the existing sanitary sewer watermain, storm sewer and related services; road reconstruction with new curb and gutters, sidewalks, asphalt pavement, and street lighting

Contractor RW Tomlinson Limited is to complete the work in phases to minimize the impact traffic.

Phase 1: July 4 – July 25
Initial construction will begin at the Bridge Street intersection with sewer installation on Bridge Street.

Traffic impact: The section of Picton Main Street between Bridge Street and the south side of Paul Street will be closed to traffic with detour routes via Picton Main, Walton King and Paul street.

Phase 2: July 25 – Aug. 15
Picton Main between Bridge and the south side of Paul Street will be closed to traffic. The intersection of Paul and Picton Main streets will be open to northbound and southbound traffic.

Traffic impact: Traffic will be detoured via Picton Main, Walton, King and Paul Streets.

Phase 3: Aug. 15 – Sept. 1
Picton Main between Bridge and Paul streets will be closed to traffic including the intersection.

Traffic impact: Northbound and southbound traffic will be detoured via Picton Main, Walton, King, Paul, Jane , Queen, and Johnson streets.

Phase 4: Sept. 1 – Sept. 12
Picton Main Street between Bridge Street and the south side of Paul Street will be closed to traffic. Construction begins on Picton Main north of Paul Street.

Traffic impact: Northbound traffic permitted on Picton Main Street from Paul to Johnson streets. Traffic will be detoured via Picton Main, Walton, King, Paul, Jane and Johnson streets.

Phase 5: Sept. 12 – Oct. 21
Picton Main Street between Bridge Street and Paul Street will be open to northbound and southbound traffic.

Traffic impact: Northbound traffic between Paul Street and Johnson Street permitted and southbound traffic will be detoured via Picton Main, Johnson, Jane, and Paul streets.

Phase 6: Oct. 21 – Nov. 14
Picton Main Street will be closed to through traffic between the north side of Paul Street through the intersection of Johnson Street.

Traffic impact: Traffic will be detoured via Picton Main, Paul, Jane, Queen, Johnson, Gladstone and Maple streets.
