Boaters and anglers will have access to the Picton marina and boat launch for the opening of walleye season this weekend but no fuel will be available.
The County and M.A. Barr Service Station Maintenance Ltd. have ensured the marina parking lot and boat launch are safe, secure, and useable for the weekend which it typically experiences high use on the due to the opening of walleye season. Many anglers rely on the launch to access Lake Ontario and participate in the Kiwanis Walleye World Fishing Derby.
“We appreciate that the Walleye World fishing derby brings many visitors to our community, and we have ensured that the marina is accessible for the weekend,” said Preston Parkinson, Director of Operations. “The fuel tank replacement has been impacted by uncontrollable delays. When construction resumes, we will work with our contractor to complete the remainder of the project as efficiently as possible to minimize any additional service disruptions.”
Construction will resume on May 4 at the Picton marina. The boat launch area and a portion of the parking lot will be closed for the duration of repairs.
