School bus in ditch – no injuries

It was a long, long ride home for students on a C Smith School Bus (route 832) which ended up in the ditch on Miller Rd. There were 10 students on board (PECI and St. Gregs) for just over an hour and a half until the second bus arrived. Some of the students were picked up by parents. There were no reported injuries.
UPDATE: Hwy 401 westbound between Wallbridge Loyalist Road and Glenn Miller Road, in Quinte West, is expected to be re-opened by midnight. The area was closed since 12:30 p.m. after a multi vehicle pileup involving approximately 25 tractor trailers and 10 other vehicles. The collision scene extended over 1.5 kms with 155 vehicles in total stuck between the front and end of the crash.
Quinte West Fire Department extricated seven people from five vehicles. Hastings Ambulance transported six injured persons to Trenton Memorial Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The OPP reports most vehicles were able to leave the scene by 7 p.m. Heavy tow trucks were at the scene all evening attempting to remove the remaining three tractor trailers. OPP hope to have the Highway re-opened by midnight.

UPDATE: 3p.m. 401 Westbound now open through Napanee. The westbound lanes of Highway 401 between Cty Rd #41 and Deseronto Rd have now been reopened.The highway was closed as a result of a multi-vehicle collision near the Beechwood Rd overpass. There were no significant injuries as a result of the collision here and numerous people, including a busload of people from a highway coach , were taken to the Strathcona Paper Centre in Napanee to keep warm and for the completion of collision reports.
Ontario Provincial Police closed Highway 401 westbound at Trenton (near St. Hiliare Road) due to a multi-vehicle collision just after noon today. The OPP estimates the pileup includes about a kilometre of vehicles. The OPP is reporting numerous injuries.
The 401 was also been closed eastbound at Brighton.
Driving conditions in the County have moved from fair to poor with blowing snow contributing to poor visibility.
A snowfall warning continues for Prince Edward County and throughout southern Ontario this afternoon.
Environment Canada says the snowfall will be heavy throughout the afternoon and be complicated by wind.
