From left, Edith Morash, Community Care board member, Alexandra Bake, Books & Company, and Barbara Lyons from Community Care admire the Christmas Memory Tree located in the bookstore.
Amid the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping and preparations, the Prince Edward County Community Care for Seniors’ Memory Tree invites a quiet moment of reflection and celebration of the life of a loved one.
While shopping at Books & Company, patrons are invited to make a donation to Prince Edward Community Care for Seniors and then choose an ornament to place on the Memory Tree.
“We owe much appreciation to Alexandra Bake and David Sweet for their support of this fundraising venture,” says Ken Noble, past chair of Community Care for Seniors. “Both seniors and business owners in the town benefit when seniors can continue to live at home.”
Prince Edward Community Care for Seniors has been supporting seniors to live independently at home since 1977. Services include Meals on Wheels, transportation to medical appointments and shopping, noon-time dinners for seniors, help with forms, reassurance programs, homemaking, yard work and home maintenance.
The agency is partly funded by the Ministry of Health & Long-Term Care through the Local Health Integration Network and supported by donations and community fundraising efforts. The office is located in The Armoury, 206 Main Street, in Picton.
