Police recover more than $35,000 in stolen property

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the Canine Unit executed a search warrant on Richmond St. Picton, Monday recovering more than $35,000 in stolen property.

CSCU units from Prince Edward, Frontenac, Centre Hastings, Bancroft, Quinte West, Napanee and Northumberland executed the search warrant in relation to an on-going multi-jurisdictional Break and Enter investigation.

Three people have been charged including a 35-year-old Picton man; a 32-year-old Brighton woman who have numerous break and enter, theft and possession of stolen property charges and were held for bail. A 21-year-old Picton woman was also charged with possession of stolen property. She was released on a promise to appear with a court date of May 16 in Picton.

CSCU members have currently linked the two males to over 50 Break and enters and thefts in the Quinte Area including Hastings, Prince Edward and Northumberland Counties. A vast amount of stolen property has been recovered and still being identified by police.

The investigation is ongoing with possible links to more break and enters, as the stolen property is identified. Police are asking if you were a victim to an unsolved break and enter in the last 5 months to contact your local OPP detachment.
