The throw was right on the money and Sophiasburgh Principal Pooky Scott took one for the team at the school’s annual Fun Fair Friday night. The event was organized by Jen Rosborough, of the School Council, with support from community helpers, parents, School Council members, firefighters, teachers, and the students of Sophiasburgh School. Events included Deal or No Deal, a loonie auction, an Over 60 Club bake sale, cotton candy and ice cream, a barbecue, bouncy castle and slide, dunk tank, and the Polish butcher. The Picton Fire Department’s Mike Branscombe was also on hand with Sparky the Fire Dog to share fire safety tips and demonstrate the fire smoke house.
The school is continuing to raise funds for SMART Boards for the classrooms. They have purchased five already and would like to get more. The fair raised more than $1700. Amber Martin photos
