Property tax payments deferred

The County of Prince Edward’s tax instalment due dates of June 15 and Sept. 15 have been deferred to Sept. 15 and Nov. 16.

The municipality anticipates mailing out tax bill notices in July. The property tax deferral is intended to provide cash flow relief to people impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The municipality has deferred property tax due dates for payments made directly to the County of Prince Edward. Property owners who pay their taxes through their mortgage should contact their mortgage company to determine if an adjustment can be made to their mortgage payment.

In addition, the County will not register tax arrears certificates on properties in 2020.

Penalties and interest will not be charged on water and wastewater bills for the remainder of 2020. The municipality will not be disconnecting water and wastewater users for non-payment in 2020.

The County is not deferring water and wastewater bills to ensure the municipality has the financial means to operate the systems. However, if you cannot pay your utilities bills in full, contact the County to make a payment arrangement. Call 613.476.2148 extension 1523 from 9 am – 5 pm, Monday to Friday.
