QHC chief of staff resigning

Dr. Dick Zoutman

Dr. Dick Zoutman, Quinte Health Care’s Chief of Staff, will be leaving QHC in late April, having accepted a position with the newly amalgamated Scarborough Rouge Hospital as its inaugural Chief of Staff.

“While we are very pleased that Dr. Zoutman has been provided this exciting new opportunity, he will certainly be missed at Quinte Health Care,” said Stuart Wright, acting QHC board chair. “During his six-year tenure as chief of staff, Dr. Zoutman has been a tremendous leader to the medical staff and entire organization.”

Wright lists Zoutman’s acheivements to include putting new processes and structures in place to better support patient care and physicians, leading the implementation of a new medical leadership structure, and ensuring the recruitment of dozens of physicians to the organization.”

“Perhaps most importantly, Dr. Zoutman was instrumental in bringing a renewed energy towards continuous quality improvement and our Grassroots Transformation that will benefit patients, staff and physicians for years to come.”

In addition to being the chief of staff, Dr. Zoutman has also provided care for hospital patients in his specialty of medical microbiologist and infectious diseases.

“The dedication to the caring for others that occurs every day at QHC has served as a profound source of inspiration for me,” said Zoutman. “That caring obviously is first and foremost for our patients and their families, but also for each other as part of a tremendously dedicated team of health care professionals. I will bring to my new role all that I have learned and gained from my wonderful experiences at QHC.”

Catherine Walker, manager of communications and community relations, said the QHC board will begin the search process for a new chief of staff in the coming weeks.
