Following a two-year hiatus from competition due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Quinte Dolphins Swim Club is gearing up for a season of swim meets.
This past weekend the team sent a group of swimming enthusiasts to watch the FINA World Cup Swim event being hosted at the Toronto Pan Am Centre. It was a day to watch and learn as the group saw top Canadian swimmers take on the best in the world. Most notably the team watched Olympic gold medalist Maggie Mac Neil in the morning heat of her signature race – the 50m Butterfly, where she secured top spot going into the Saturday night finals.
Before leaving the event, Dolphins swimmers ran into Mac Neil as she was heading out to rest up before the evening finals. She took the time to sign autographs and pose for a group picture. Later that night she claimed the gold medal and a new Canadian Record for the 50m Butterfly.
