Request to speak to QHC AGM by June 11

On Tuesday, June 25th Quinte Health Care will hold its annual general meeting.
For QHC stakeholders interested in attending or making a presentation, here is the board policy regarding members of the public speaking at board meetings:
“Members of the public may not address the board or ask questions of the board without the permission of the chair. Individuals who wish to address or raise questions with the board must make his/her request, in writing, through the office of the president and CEO at least 14 days in advance of the board meeting. In making a request, the individuals or group should indicate the following: Topic to be addressed, Name(s) of presenter(s), Audio-visual requirements, Understanding that the presentation will not exceed 10 minutes in length. The Board Chair and Chief Executive Officer will assess and priortize the requests.
Written confirmation of attendance, if approved, will be provided to the individual or group making the request. The chair of the board of directors has the right to determine the appropriateness of any any presentation. Any one delegation or presentation will be limited to a maximum of ten minutes unless otherwise agreed by the board chair and chief executive officer.”
In light of the severe service cuts that have taken place at PECM and Trenton Memorial Hospitals there may be some who wish to address the QHC board. Remember that all major service cuts that take place at QHC’s four hospitals are approved by the QHC board of directors. Those wishing to address the board should contact Kathryn Noxon, Executive Assistant to the Board of Directors with your request. She may be reached at 613-969-7400 ext 2199 email: knoxon@qhc. on.ca.
Keep in mind that QHC board meetings and AGMs are always open to the public, however you cannot speak unless you have made a request at least 14 days in advance of the board meeting. This would mean that your request must be made by Tues., June 11th. The location and time of the AGM should be posted in the local media a few weeks before the meeting.
For your information Quinte Health Care is goverened by a 17-person Board of Directors, made up of 12 volunteer selected directors and 5 ex-officio Directors. The ex-officio board members do not have a vote. Of the 12 directors who do have a vote, 6 of them reside in Prince Edward County.
QHC also has an Advisory Council comprised of 54 members representing the areas that QHC serves. The 54 members do not have a vote but hopefully will be in attendance representing their communities.
Hopefully the above information on Board policy will be helpful to those who plan on attending QHC’s AGM.
