Picton Rotary Club members presented a $17,930 installment toward their $100,000 pledge to build the County’s new hospital.
This donation, raised through fundraising events, brings donations toward the pledge to $67,104 for hospital foundation’s Back the Build campaign.
“The Rotary Club of Picton’s steadfast support of the hospital and the community at large is both inspirational and longstanding,” said Shannon Coull, executive director of the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation (PECMHF), and also a Rotary member. “The foundation’s partnership with the Rotary Club of Picton spans more than 20 years. Picton Rotary has contributed over $182,000 which has helped fund essential equipment needed at our County hospital and now Backs the Build for our new hospital.
“We also wish to congratulate the Rotary Club of Picton on 80 years of service above self and applaud all Picton Rotarians for working to better the world and our local community.”
The club raised this contribution through the golf tournament, waterfalls tour, the Lilac Ride, cash calendar sales, and other activities.
“We are thrilled to continue to support worthy causes in the community, including the building of our new County hospital,” said Proctor. “Rotary’s motto of Service Above Self was enacted by fundraising and supporting worthy projects both locally and internationally and we are grateful to everyone who participates in our events or purchases a cash calendar year after year. The Rotary Club of Picton is fortunate to have many long-serving people in the Club. These volunteers are a source of wisdom and experience and remain committed to the work of Rotary in our community.”
The procedure room in the ambulatory clinic in the new Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital will be named in recognition of the Rotary Club of Picton’s generous support.
“As our community continues to grow, so does the need for our hospital. We’re thankful for the decades of support from Rotary and appreciate the club’s continued investment in our hospital,” said Coull.
