Salvation Army offering emergency accommodation during extreme cold

Emergency accommodations are available overnights Feb. 2-4, as Environment Canada is forecasting temperatures below -20 C for Prince Edward County.

The County has partnered with the local Salvation Army to offer emergency overnight accommodations during extreme cold conditions.

“Extreme cold puts everyone at risk. We welcome the opportunity to work with the County to make sure people in our community have a place to go when it’s too cold to stay outside,” says David Dale, Pastor / Captain with the Salvation Army.

Emergency overnight accommodations will be available when Environment Canada forecasts a temperature of -15° C or colder, or a wind chill of -20° C or colder, for Prince Edward County.

If people need shelter, they can call the Salvation Army at 613.476.3159 to arrange accommodations. The program is supported financially by the Prince Edward-Lennox and Addington Social Services.
