School board congratulates Gov.-Gen. Academic medalists

The Hastings Prince Edward District School Board congratulates seven secondary school graduates who are recipients of the Governor General’s Academic Medal which is awarded to the student graduating with the highest average from a high school, college or university.

The 2026 recipients are:
Cameron Billing, Prince Edward Collegiate Institute
Naomi Buckingham, Central Hastings School
James Ferguson, Trenton High School
Leah Hudacin, Eastside Secondary School
Grace Kinney, North Hastings High School
Elly Lindsay, Centennial Secondary School
Flora Sonneveld, Bayside Secondary School

Since 1873, the Governor General’s Academic Medal has recognized the outstanding scholastic achievements of students in Canada. It has become one of the most prestigious awards a student in a Canadian educational institution can receive. Medals are presented on behalf of the Governor General by participating educational institutions, along with personalized certificates signed by the Governor General.
