Hastings and Prince Edward District School board trustees approved a letter to the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) recommending changes to the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test and the Literacy Course assessment practices.
The letter addresses two recommendations relating to EQAO assessment practices:
* that students be provided the opportunity to take the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Course without having to fail the Literacy Test first; and
* that a differentiated Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test assessment approach occur by pathway (academic and applied), similar to the Grade 9 Mathematics EQAO assessment practices.
