Seniors benefit from library partnership programs

One of the ways the library is able to serve people across the County is through our partnerships.

Our partnership with the Prince Edward Community Care for Seniors Association is one of the longest-standing. We’ve always shared information and resources and supported each other’s projects.

When the library’s Picton Branch Library expansion fundraising committee decided to hold “tag days’, Community Care generously loaned us their boxes, and library staff have been able to give presentations on local history and technology topics to their clients.

Community Care is also a key part of the library’s home delivery program. People who can’t get out to the library due to medical or accessibility reasons can give us a call and get set up for this service. Library staff select books based on the individual preference of each reader, and Community Care’s trained and vetted volunteers do the delivering.

Recently, Barbara Sweet, CEO of the County of Prince Edward Public Library dropped by the new County Seniors Centre and had the opportunity to chat with some people about library services and resources.

While she was there, she also topped up their “book cart” – a collection of titles provided by the library that people can read and return to Community Care for Seniors. The library is appreciative of Community Care for Seniors and all that we can accomplish together.
