Construction is under way to repair the failed east wall of the Royal Hotel on Main Street in Picton. For safety reasons, the sidewalk in front will be closed periodically while repairs take place.
The sidewalk will be periodically closed for approximately three to four weeks.
Pedestrians will need to use the sidewalk on the southern side of street for part of the distance between William and Bridge streets.
Following the failure of the hotel’s east wall on April 19, 2017, the County’s Chief Building Official issued a precautionary order to ensure safety of pedestrians.
The County will also be conducting mandatory water and sanitary sewer work on York Street, in Picton. The section of York between Portland and Church streets will be temporarily closed Tuesday, May 16, 2017. It is expected to be completed by May 19, 2017. Construction will take place from 7am – 7pm.
Access for local residents will be maintained but minor traffic delays are to be expected in the area.
The work is not expected to impact water quality and residents living in the area are not expected to experience loss of pressure while construction is taking place.
