Spring has officially sprung today, though it feels a bit more like another summer day as the temperature is expected to soar to 18C today; 19C Wednesday and 16C Thursday and Friday before getting back to single digit temperatures over the weekend. On Monday, more than three dozen cities across the province shattered records.
Environment Canada reports the summer-like heat wave is upstaging the winter that wasn’t and temperatures this week are more like the first days of summer than of spring with temperatures 10-15 degrees above seasonal.
From this day on, the days get longer as the sun gets higher in the northern hemisphere. Summer solstice is June 20.
