Sean Monteith, Director of Education for the Hastings Prince Edward School Board, has advised students and families to take home their personal belongings when they leave Thursday for the long weekend.
In a letter, he advised students, staff and families to take home personal effects including eyeglasses, shoes and materials required for teaching and learning remotely.
“At this time, it is anticipated the students and staff who are currently learning and working in-person will return to school on Tuesday, April 6; however, we want staff and families to be ready and supported if the Ministry of Education and provincial Medical Officer of Health announce a shift to remote learning for all students.”
He noted that “while this is not intended to cause speculation or added anxiety, our purpose is for students, families and staff to be as prepared as possible after the long weekend. Our hope is that this approach allows everyone to prepare for whatever scenario we may face in the coming days and weeks.”
