Three people were arrested in connection with a door-to-door scam for driveway paving services.
Prince Edward OPP received a report Feb. 14 that an individual had been approached the previous day by someone offering driveway paving services.
Constable Aaron Miller, Community Safety and media relations officer, reports the person requested that the work be done the next day, but a wary homeowner was suspicious and contacted the OPP.
“When the scammer and his partners returned, they quickly fled upon learning that the police had been contacted. Officers located the vehicle on Highway 62 and arrested three individuals. They were not charged but were turned over to a federal enforcement partner.”
Miller advises residents to be wary of unsolicited contractors and to never make on-the-spot decisions about hiring a contractor. “Do your research. If it’s too good to be true, it likely is!”
