Three charged following armed home invasion

UPDATE SEPT. 25: Prince Edward OPP have charged three people after a home invasion Thursday, Sept. 24, shortly after 8:30 a.m.

Officers responded to Loyalist Parkway in Ameliasburgh and after locating and stopping an involved vehicle, learned three individuals had left the area on foot.

After extensive efforts by responding officers aided by members of the Emergency Response Team, Tactics and Rescue Unit, the Canine Unit and OPP Aviation Services, two individuals were located. Later in the day, one additional individual was located and arrested.

A 20-year-old from Montreal was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
Break, enter dwelling house- commit indictable offence
Pointing a firearm
Disguise with intent
Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm
Firearm- use while committing offence
Assault with a weapon
Fail to comply with probation order
Failure to comply with release order

A 20-year-old from Laval Quebec, was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
Break, enter dwelling house- commit indictable offence
Pointing a firearm
Disguise with intent
Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm
Firearm- use while committing offence
Assault with a weapon
Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
Fail to comply with p robation order – two counts

A 22-year-old from Montreal, was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
Break, enter dwelling house- commit indictable offence
Pointing a firearm
Disguise with intent
Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm
Firearm- use while committing offence
Assault with a weapon
Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
Fail to comply with probation order

The investigation continues with the assistance of the Prince Edward County Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Services.

Heavy police presence in Consecon area – three arrested

SEPT. 24 UPDATE: (5:38 p.m.) Third suspect has been arrested. Two others were brought into custody at about 3:30 p.m.

UPDATE: (1:15 p.m.): OPP continues to advise the public of a heavy police presence in Consecon village area, on the road, and in the air by helicopter, and with the support of OPP canines, in the area of Loyalist Parkway, County Road 19, and Salem Road following a home invasion on Loyalist Parkway.

The Hastings Prince Edward Board of Education has noted it is aware of the situation and there is ongoing communication between school administrators and representatives from local police services. Kente Public School and Massassauga Rednersville Schools were on “Hold and Secure’ – ongoing protocol when there is a situation outside, and unrelated to the school. Classes continue normally inside. The Hold and Secure was lifted just after 2 p.m.

9:50 a.m.: Prince Edward County OPP is advising the public of a heavy police presence in Consecon village, in the area of Loyalist Parkway between County Road 19 and Salem Road.

Officers are responding to a disturbance involving three suspects at large, described as Black males, wearing dark clothing. If you think you may see the suspect(s) or have any information, police advise you to call 1-888-310-1122 or 9-1-1.

Members of the public are advised to avoid the area and follow any instructions provided by officers at the scene.
