Three County women join June Callwood Circle of Volunteers

Recipients of the prestigious June Callwood Award for spirit and dedication to supporting hospice palliative care are Carol Mcintosh (2020), Sandra Ferguson (2022) and Anne Howells (2021)

Hospice Prince Edward has celebrated several of its volunteers in honour of International Volunteer Day, Dec. 5 including welcoming three into the June Callwood Circle of Outstanding Volunteers.

The Callwood award this year was presented to Sandra Ferguson, as well as to Anne Howells for 2021 and Carol McIntosh for 2020. The award honours their spirit and dedication to supporting hospice palliative care.

The award is named in honour of Callwood, to honour the late journalist, author, social activist and long-time advocate of hospice. Her name is synonymous with integrity and compassion as her words and work touched the lives of generations of Canadians in need.

The recipients of the Spirit of Hospice Award who possess the qualities of selfless service, generosity of spirit, compassion, and a commitment to excellence as a volunteer include Art Miersma (2020), Linda Torney and Susan Desveaux (2021), and Jill Johnson (2022).

Hospice Prince Edward is meeting its volunteers in person to extend appreciation for the time they devote to clients in need of end-of-life care, caregiver support, grief and bereavement services.
