Update on rough driving on Carnike, Salem, and Victoria roads

The municipality is advising motorists that sections of Carnrike, Salem, and Victoria roads are rough driving following recent road rehabilitation work completed as part of the 2026 Rural Road program.
“The significant rainfall received between June 14 and 18 has resulted in saturated conditions within the pulverized road base,” said Communications and Consultation Supervisor. “Under these conditions, the effectiveness of grading and compaction is significantly reduced until the road base has had an opportunity to dry.”
County staff and the contractor are monitoring conditions and will undertake maintenance activities as weather and road conditions permit.
Reduced speed advisory signs have been installed throughout the affected areas. Motorists are asked to reduce their speed, use caution, and be prepared for changing road conditions when travelling through these sections.
