The Water and Wastewater Department will be repairing a water main leak on Picton Main Street between Bridge and Paul streets in Picton.
Heavy equipment may be present effective this afternoon to assist with snow removal and road maintenance. Emergency repairs are expected to begin Thursday, Jan. 31, at approximately 9 am, with an expected completion time of 5 pm the same day.
Lane restrictions on Picton Main Street between Bridge and Paul streets may be in place for the duration of the repair. Motorists are asked to avoid the construction area if possible.
Sidewalk closure on the east side of Picton Main Street from Bridge up to, but not including, the entrance to Shire Hall may be in place for the duration of the repair. The parkette near Shire Hall will not be accessible.
Barriers will block pedestrian traffic along the sidewalk.
These repairs are not expected to impact water quality; however, residents living in the area may experience intermittent pressure fluctuations, air and coloured water while construction is taking place.
If coloured water is experienced, customers are encouraged to flush their water lines at the cold water tap nearest to the water meter once maintenance is complete.
