Wellington celebrates Christmas in Whoville

The young and the young at heart lined Main Street to catch a glimpse of Santa and all his friends Saturday morning as part of Wellington’s Whoville Christmas celebration.

The evening before, residents were invited to re-enact the Whoville ceremony around the Christmas tree, from the iconic “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” movie.

Inside a snowflake exists the magical land of Whoville:
“Welcome, Christmas, bring your cheer. Cheer to all Whos far and near. Christmas Day is in our grasp, so long as we have hands to clasp. Christmas Day will always be just as long as we have we. Welcome Christmas while we stand, heart to heart, and hand in hand.”

Whoville Mayor Peter Mertens and councillor Jim Dunlop lead the Whoville portion of the parade.
