– John Ferguson file photo

Dredging of the Wellington Channel is set to begin Monday, Sept. 14 with equipment mobilization, followed by the dredging portion, set to begin Monday, Sept. 21.

It is anticipated to take two to three weeks to complete.
The municipality reports the work may limit access to parts of the Wellington Rotary Beach boat launch area; however, the launch remains accessible.
Some parking areas at the eastern most extent of Beach Street will be closed to support the work.
The eastern most section of the Wellington Rotary Beach will be closed off due to the construction of temporary dewatering pools.
The channel itself may be obstructed and inaccessible due to the dredging equipment. Navigation of the channel may be periodically disrupted. Boaters are advised to use caution around the dredging equipment.
The public is asked to avoid entering the work areas and maintain a safe distance from equipment.
