White Pines wind to be widening four intersections

The municipality is advising motorists of the pending construction to widen four intersections enroute to the wpd White Pines industrial wind project in South Marysburgh.
Contractors for wpd are expected to start construction within the next two weeks.
The intersections undergoing alterations include:
o Royal Road and Lighthall Road
o Lighthall Road and County Road 24
o Royal Road and County Road 10
o County Road 4 and County Road 34
The municipality notes contractors are undertaking the work, as provided for in the road users agreement with the County of Prince Edward, to permit oversize loads to move through the intersections.
During the construction, there may be delays or lane reductions in the areas. The municipality does not expect the intersections to be closed to traffic.

Don’t be ridiculous. Very,very few wanted turbines here ruining environment and people’s health and peace. Not to mention the absurd cost for something we don’t need.
Dennis,I believe it is the other way around. Many people wanted tubines but because of you (others) it didn’t happen. WPD did nothing wrong. WPD will pay their way.
hockeyman – your response is too simplistic and lacks insight into how this particular company has treated this community – don’t expect them to pay their way.
Dennis, WPD is responsible for the cost to change the corners and have them removed back to original state.As far as trucks traveling on our roads that is why we pay money for licence plates and there is also a charge for wide loads and overloads which the county will collect for each truck.
This is the most insulting development that our community could have forced upon us – in order to accommodate a company we don’t want, we are expected to accept the inconvenience of their huge vehicles and equipment travelling our roads. Then we have to allow them to alter our roads and intersections in order for them to build in a location we have fought hard to protect from IWTs -another matter we opposed! Do we have to bow down as they pass by?
All in all,our political system, at all levels, is no longer working for those who elected them – and it hasn’t in many years. I don’t believe my parents, nor grandparents fought for this country to see democracy crushed into the ground, in the manner we have seen it happen here in PEC. No government anywhere cared one tinker’s damn about our concerns and it is obvious big business rules the day and to hell with what the people want!
So just who is going to pay for the changes to these intersections, who is going to pay for the banging that our other roads are going to experience when these trucks travel throughout our community? BTW – is throwing rotten eggs against the law?
