Winter. It’s baaaacck! Sand and salt being rationed
Administrator | Feb 18, 2014 | Comments 0
Storm after storm this winter have depleted sand and salt supplies regionally and as a result are being rationed to municipalities.
The County reported on Friday it is re-stocking, but in the meantime its remaining sand and salt supplies are being reserved for use in storms. As a result, some secondary roads within the County remain snow covered, hard packed, and may have ice or ruts. Residents are urged to drive with this in mind.
Following an almost balmy Family Day weekend, winter is making its gusty, snowy appearance again today.
Prince Edward County roads are snow covered, in fair condition but with mostly poor visibility.
There’s not a lot of snow expected – about 5cm – but wind gusts will move it around as they reach 44km/h and continue into the overnight.
