A crossword instant lottery game saw Dale Broadbent, of Bloomfield, scratch her way to winning a $250,000 top prize.
A mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Dale has been playing the lottery with OLG for many years but this is her first big win.
“I was sitting in my kitchen, playing my ticket and not paying much attention to how many words I had matched,” she recalled, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up her windfall. “I scanned my ticket on the OLG app and saw the ‘Big Winner’ screen. I thought I was seeing an ad, so I cleared the screen and scanned my ticket one more time.”
Still, she was unsure of what was happening so asked her husband to take a look. “At first, we thought I had won $250, then he noticed all the zeros that followed. It was quite a shock for us both!” Dale smiled.
“I don’t think I really believed it until now. I never thought this would happen to me. There is so much I can do with this win. I haven’t made any plans yet, but I may travel and upgrade my vehicle,” Dale concluded.
The winning ticket was purchased at Scott’s Store on Lake Street in Picton.
