Work on Skyway Bridge to resume March 2

Construction operations for 2020 on the Bay of Quinte Skyway Bridge on Hwy 49 is scheduled to start up again on March 2, 2020 – weather permitting.
Aecon Construction and Materials Limited (“Aecon”) is rehabilitating the Bay of Quinte Skyway Bridge on Highway 49. The work started in 2018 and should be completed in 2024.
Temporary single lane closures during the day (from 30 minutes after sunrise to 30 minutes before sunset) will be in place from March 2 to March 18, 2020 controlled by automated flaggers, weather permitting.
Motorists can expect 5-10-minute delays due to temporary closures.
Starting on March 19, 2020 (weather permitting) the next segment (Segment B) on the Bay of Quinte Skyway Bridge being rehabilitated will be reduced to a single lane controlled by temporary traffic signals which will operate 24 hours a day/7 day a week for the remainder of the 2020 construction season which is scheduled to be completed in late December.
During specific occasions the bridge will be required to be fully closed at night (9pm-6am) for safety reasons during major construction operations.
Notifications will be issued two weeks in advance of any planned full closures.
The construction work planned for 2020 is as follows:
All superstructure work within Segment B;
Rehabilitation of piers underneath the bridge;
Structural steel repairs;
