The Youth Park at the Picton Fairgrounds (375 Picton Main Street) is to be closed Wednesday, June 1 – Friday, June 3 while the play surface is being replaced.
A fence will be installed around the Youth Park to prevent people from entering. The exact reopening time is weather dependent.
Meanwhile a controlled burn of Japanese knot weed in Delhi Park was to take place Wednesday, June 1 for several hours by Prince Edward County Fire and Rescue staff.
Japanese knotweed (Fallopia japonica) is an invasive and aggressive semi-woody perennial plant that is native to eastern Asia. Japanese knotweed is especially persistent due to its vigorous root system.
The County is collecting data on where invasive species can be found within the municipality. Visit the County’s engagement platform, Have Your Say, to share your information.
