100 People Who Care PEC support Hospice

Hospice Prince Edward was selected as this quarter’s beneficiary of donations from 100 People Who Care Prince Edward County members.

Dr. Kim Haigh submitted the nomination and encouraged members to vote for Hospice Prince Edward because of the high-quality, compassionate care loved ones receive at their end-of-life.

“As a physician, I know that those who choose Hospice Prince Edward will be supported at the end of their life’s journey in a home-like environment,” said Dr. Haigh. “I’m confident that you know of a family who has been at hospice, who was comforted and supported, and who is filled with gratitude with their choice.”

Sandy Barnes, Executive Director and Peter Matthewman, past President, graciously accepted the donation of $8,300 from Richard Byers, and Jim and Joanne Rose, members of Prince Edward County’s 100 People Who Care. This is the second time Hospice has been chosen as a recipient, the first being in 2021.

100 People Who Care Prince Edward County is based on the concept of bringing together a group of 100+ people who commit to meet four times per year, contribute $100 at each meeting, and make a huge impact on a local charity.

Hospice Prince Edward has been offering palliative and end-of-life care to those living in Prince Edward County and the surrounding area for the last 10 years, supporting more than 500 families.

“We’re honored to be selected for this generous donation,” stated Barnes. “After 10 years of use, the residence desperately needs new flooring. The residence has recently received a donation of new furniture, and has been freshly painted. The addition of new flooring will complete the refresh of the residence. This donation will make a difference to those clients and their families who use the residence, and for all who visit.”
