Bay of Quinte Mutual helping keep local kids warm this winter

At the presentation of $10,000 to the Keep Kids Warm campaign, are PEC constable Alexandre Lebel, community engagement officer, Barb Sills, long-time OPP Keep Kids Warm volunteer, Art Wiersma, representing the Bay of Quinte Mutual Insurance board of directors, and PEC Sgt. Paul Leblanc.

The Bay of Quinte Mutual Insurance Company presented $10,000 to the County OPP’s Keep Kids Warm campaign this week which supports families by providing new winter outerwear like coats, snow pants, boots, hats and mittens.

The Prince Edward County OPP, volunteers, and neighbouring police detachments support working families and those in need of assistance to purchase new winter clothing for children – typically assisting about 1,500 area children from newborn to 12 years of age. Partners include Quinte Broadcasting, Belleville Police Service, the Township of Stirling Rawdon, Marmora and Lake, Centre Hastings OPP and Prince Edward OPP.

Families are registered from Prince Edward County, Belleville, from the north to Madoc and Marmora and to the east in Deseronto. Registration for the program took place in September. Parents who registered can pick up their child’s warm new outerwear Nov. 3rd – 5 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the PEC OPP Detachment, 569 County Road 1, Picton.
