JAN 27 UPDATE: The County reminds residents all staff and equipment have been deployed to plow roads and sidewalks and that arterial roads get priority.
A street parking ban is in effect from 2a.m. -6 a.m. and residents are asked not to park on sidewalks to allow for snow removal.

Residents are asked not to shovel snow onto the roads or sidewalks as it hinders plowing efforts and can also result in a $75 fine.

JAN 27 11 a.m.: Blowing and drifting snow creating chellenges throughout the County.

The municipality reports snow removal efforts are continuing but to expect delays in servicing of some roads and areas.

Plows are fully mobilized but there are confirmed delays, as of this morning, in clearing County Roads 32, 11 and Salem Road.

Blowing snow and wind chill warnings have been issued by Environment Canada for today and tonight. Wind chill values expected to be in the -30s.

JAN 27 morning:- The eastbound lanes of the 401 are are now open at Trenton. They were closed this morning due to accidents. Detours around two jack-knifed trailers were set up.

Northumberland OPP are at the scene of a serious three-vehicle accident eastbound 401 just east of County Road 28 in Port Hope. Injuries have been reported.

School buses and taxis have been called off wintry roads today as blowing snow makes driving difficult and visibility zero, at times. Not much new snow is expected, but wind will toss around about 20cm of snow that has fallen since Friday.

Classes have been cancelled at Loyalist College and at Sonrise Christian school. All other schools remain open.

The -8 temperature feels like -19 this morning. Wind is gusting to 80km/h. The temperature is dropping to -11 this afternoon, feeling like -22 but gusts remaining at up to 73km/h.
Tonight, the temperature is expected to go to -16, feeling like -27 but gusts dropping to a high of 48km/h. Overnight forecast is -19, feeling like -30.

JAN 24- A snow squall watch has been upgraded to a warning for Prince Edward County and beyond today. Strong winds are to bring snow and squalls off Lake Ontario this afternoon with snowfall amounts of up to 10cm expected. Expect low to nil visibility in the squalls. Environment Canada warns highways 401 and 2 may be especially subject to sudden nil visibilities with blowing snow and bursts of heavy snow in squalls.

Hiscock Shores Rd in PEC was closed this afternoon due to whiteout conditions.

Highway 401 eastbound was closed at Brighton for a 30km stretch because of several accidents. The highway was shut down by Northumberland OPP around lunch time after a series of crashes just before noon today. One involved 15 to 20 vehicles. Detours were set up for eastbound traffic.
