Chad Brown will be the new fire chief for Prince Edward County as of Dec. 6, overseeing its complement of 150 volunteer and full-time firefighters.
Brown is the County’s fourth chief since amalgamation, following the retirement this month of Robert Rutter who took over from Scott Manlow. George Pettingill was the first County chief.
Chief Brown was most recently the fire chief for Mississippi Mills in Lanark County, and prior as the Deputy Chief for Peterborough, as well as continuing to be an active member of the Otonabee South Monaghan Fire Service as a volunteer firefighter.
In addition to his on-the-job experience, Brown has a demonstrated interest in continuous learning, holding a NPPA 1021 Fire Officer IV, as well as post-graduate certifications in Fire Service Executive Management and Emergency Management, among others.
