Council reviews plan for urban Rossmore

A secondary plan for the Rossmore Urban Centre reviewed by council at a special public meeting Tuesday.

The municipal land use document is to be adopted as an amendment to the County’s Official Plan. It was presented by John Uliana, project manager for IBI Group. He notes Rossmore’s population is expected to almost double to 1,160 by 2034.

“The plan is not merely a summary of ideas and wish lists: it is a collection of goals and policies that focus on what is achievable in the next 20 years.”

Development plans include more pedestrian access in terms of design, walkability and accessibility to the village core; a commercial shopping area, more diverse housing and mixed use buildings in the village core.

Plans also show a possible traffic circle at Highway 62 and County Road 28.

Uliana also said additional park space and access to water would be necessary as the population grows.

The 91-page draft is on the County’s website https://princeedwardcounty.civicweb.net/Documents/DocumentList.aspx?ID=99462
