County set to begin budget week

The County’s municipal departments and funded external agencies begin budget presentations to council next week.
Monday morning the process begins with CAO James Hepburn providing an overview of the budget.
Council will be presented with the 2019 operating budget of $54.5 million and a capital budget of $14.3 million. It must also consider water and wastewater operating budgets of $3.8 million and $4.1 million, respectively, as well as the water and wastewater capital budget of $7.8 million. Water and wastewater rates and connection charges fund the operating and capital costs of the water and wastewater systems.
Special council budget meetings are scheduled for Monday through Friday, Jan. 18. The presentations and deliberations at Shire Hall begin at 9:30 am each day.
The meetings are open to the public and will be live-streamed.
