COVID-19 vaccine clinics in Picton move to online booking only due to high demand

COVID-19 vaccine clinics at the Prince Edward Community Centre (375 Picton Main Street) will no longer accept walk-ins due to the increased demand for third shots and booster doses.

People must now book an appointment in advance through the online provincial portal or by calling the Provincial Vaccine Contact Centre at 1.833.943.3900.

If you are a senior (60 years of age and older) and find it difficult booking an appointment online or over the phone, contact Community Care for Seniors 613.476.7493 for assistance.

Clinics will take place in Picton on the following dates for individuals 12 years of age or older who want to get their first or second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine or a third shot for immunocompromised or a booster dose if they qualify:
Monday, Dec.13 – 1-7 pm
Thursday, Dec. 16 – 10 am to 4 pm
Saturday, Dec. 18 – 9 am to 5 pm (Please note: this clinic will open up on the provincial booking portal in the afternoon of Dec. 13)
Monday, Dec. 20 – 1-7 pm

If Picton clinics do not appear on the online provincial booking portal, it is because the clinics are fully booked. Check back regularly as appointments may open up.

If you have booked an appointment but already received your booster, please cancel your appointment so someone else can book that space.

You can also book an appointment at the clinic in Belleville (Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre Gym, 265 Cannifton Road, Belleville) through the provincial online booking portal or the Provincial Vaccine Contact Centre.

Additional opportunities to get the vaccine are available at local pharmacies. Find out more information about vaccination opportunities at County pharmacies.

COVID-19 testing is also available in Picton by appointment at the Prince Edward Community Centre Monday-Friday from 1 pm to 4 pm. You must book in advance by calling 613.813.6846. If you require weekend testing call 613.961.5544 or go online to arrange testing at the Belleville and Trenton assessment centres.

Just came from the Picton Covid clinic for the Booster. Inside protocols, volunteers and staff were excellent. Outside … no social distancing what-so-ever in the lineup, and nobody inside wanted to know. I kept six feet between myself and the person in front of me, the rest of the lineup – 1-2 ft. maximum. What is that all about? The fellow behind me asked if I was going to move up!

Trying to book for a booster has been an exercise in frustration and futility. And, as of Monday the flood gates for who can book their booster shots opens even wider. (18 and up)
I agree with Gillian, it would have been great to know this in advance of my spending countless hours trying to book an appointment. Not a hope in heck I’m booking something kms away in the dead of winter either.

  3. Gillian says:

After trying to book my Booster shot online and by phone without success, I called customer service at the HPE Health unit and was told that the reason that there are no appointments available in this area is because they do not have any vaccine available as it hasn’t been provided by the Government. So, without any available vaccine they will not make any appointments. It felt that this information should be shared with the local community.
