Driver who twice fled police and nearly struck them, arrested

Prince Edward OPP have arrested a driver who fled from officers at a RIDE program, nearly struck them, and fled again in a second instance.
Constable Aaron Miller, PEC OPP community safety and media relations officer, said officers were conducting a RIDE program Friday, Dec. 16 at Loyalist Parkway and County Road 64 in Carrying Place when shortly before 11 p.m., a vehicle failed to stop for officers, nearly striking them. Officers attempted to stop the driver who did not stop.
Miller reports that on Saturday morning around 8:30 a.m. officers located the vehicle on Highway 62 and attempted to stop the driver, who again, did not stop. Officers later located the vehicle at a residence and arrested the driver.
An 18-year-old from Trenton, was charged with Flight from police, two counts, and Dangerous operation, two counts.
The driver was released from custody on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on Jan. 25, 2023.
