Expect road closures and traffic disruptions Sunday, Oct. 5 during the 22nd annual County Marathon – starting in Wellington and ending in Picton.
The event features a full marathon of 42.2 km (Boston qualifier); a marathon relay with two to five-person teams; a half marathon of 21.1 km and a five km fun run.
The closures are rolling, meaning roads will reopen when necessary. In addition, major intersections will be managed to keep traffic moving and allow vehicles through at regular intervals. The road closures will be co-ordinated by a specialized road race company and the Ontario Provincial Police.
The following roads will be closed at these times:
County Road 33 (Wellington to Bloomfield): 7:30 am – 10 am
County Road 12 (Bloomfield to Sandbanks): 8:30 am – 11:30 am
County Road 11 and County Road 10 (Sandbanks to Picton): 9:30 am – 1:30 pm
Picton Main Street (Lake Street to Crystal Palace): 7:30 am – 2:30 pm.
