Five people face drug charges following search warrant on London Ave

The OPP have arrested and charged five people after the execution of a search warrant Thursday, June 30 on London Avenue in Picton.

Members of the Prince Edward County OPP with the assistance of the East Region Emergency Response Unit and East Region Community Street Crime Unit seized suspected cocaine, stolen property and associated drug paraphernalia.

The five – ages 26, 49, 47 and 51 from Prince Edward County and a 50-year-old from Deseronto – were charged with possession of a schedule one substance- cocaine contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Two were further charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code.

One was further charged with possession of property obtained by crime – under $5000 and two counts of failure to comply with release order contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused was held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on June 30.

The other accused parties were released on undertakings to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on Aug. 17.
