Four in hospital related to Pizza Pops recall

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency reports people are getting sick and four have been hospitalized after an outbreak of E. coli infections linked to Pillsbury brand Pizza Pops.
The hospitalizations were reported to be in Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta and New Brunswick.
The pepperoni and bacon flavoured Pizza Pops recalled Sunday came in 760-gram and 2.85 kilogram packages with best-before dates of June 9 and 10, 2026.
The recall also includes Pizza Pops Supremo Extreme pepperoni and bacon snacks in three-kilogram boxes with best-before dates between June 10 and 12, 2026, and Pizza Pops Frank’s RedHot pepperoni and bacon sold in 380-gram packages with a best-before date of June 14, 2026.
General Mills states it is a voluntary recall and the other Pillsbury Pizza Pops products are not affected.
The CFIA says the products may be contaminated with E. coli O26, and it is urging customers to throw away the affected products or return them to the store where they were purchased.
The contaminated food may not look or smell spoiled according to the recall notice, but can still make you sick.
The CFIA says people who are infected with E. coli bacteria can spread it to others several days to several weeks after they have become infected – even if they don’t have symptoms.
