Four roads get single surface treament

County staff and contractors will be putting single surface treatment on four roads starting Monday, June 8.
The work is expected to continue for a week on Kleinsteuber Parks Road (County Road 11 to County Road 12); Bethel Road (County Road 4 to County Road 5); Old Milford Road (McKinley Road to County Road 17) and County Road 8 (Dorenburg Lane to Rock Crossroad, Kaiser Crossroad to Cressy Lakeside Road).

Single surface treatment is a preventative maintenance tool that preserves and re-enforces existing pavements and surface treated roads, extending their life expectancy.

It is constructed by spraying a uniform application of asphalt emulsion – which is a liquid asphalt cement emulsified in water — followed by a layer of cover aggregate.

Warm weather and low traffic volumes assist with setting the cover aggregate into the asphalt emulsion.

Roads may appear to be granular while setting, but will continue to harden before taking on the final look of surface treatment.
